Mindfulness · East side

Stargazing east of the city

Drive twenty minutes east until the glow drops off, then sit still for an hour. Cheap, seasonal, memorable.

Light pollution falls quickly once you leave the built-up east side. Pick a legal pull-off or a public open space that allows evening access.

Bring more warm layers than the daytime temperature suggests. The plains lose heat fast after sunset, in every season.

Never park on private land or block agricultural access. Check that the site you choose allows after-dark visits.
